The first outing of 2008
will be a hike at Mayo
Park,
near Roxboro in Person
County, North
Carolina. This hike will be
led by Outings Chairman, Paul Johnson.
Red Tail Hawk Trail is
slightly hilly and can be a bit rough underfoot in spots. However, the
trail is wooded and is shielded from the winds blowing across the expanse of
the main lake. The hikers will be able to lunch at a picnic shelter about
halfway through the trip, weather permitting. This is considered an easy 2 mile
hike.
Participants are asked to
meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Amphitheater Parking Lot on Saturday,
January 5, 2008. Hikers should wear stout boots, dress warmly in
layers, and bring a walking stick (if desired), lunch and water. All
participants will be asked to sign a waiver form.
