Description:
The Marrowbone Creek access to the Smith
River offers a public non-motorized boat
ramp with parking. Paddlers should be aware
that the launching area is steep and care
should be taken.
After
entering from Marrowbone Creek, paddlers
will encounter a scenic 4-mile portion of
the Smith River, passing through mature
hardwood forests with spectacular views of
wildlife. Paddlers take out on river left on
the highway right-of-way at Mitchell Bridge
(Rte. 636). Points of interest within this
section include a side trip up Leatherwood
Creek and a few islands. Paddlers should
check USGS gauges.
