January 14, 2017
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

CWQM Training

Free training for anyone interested in becoming a citizen water quality monitor in the Danville, VA area! The training will be held on the 3rd Floor of Frith Hall on Averett University's main campus (map here).

Registration is required. Please contact Amy Farinelli at afarinelli@danriver.org to RSVP. Deadline to register is Monday, January 9th. Space is limited to 20 people. If spaces fill quickly, another training will be held at a later date.

The training will focus on monitoring for the presence of E. coli in streams and tributaries of the Dan River in Danville, VA. Volunteers will learn the appropriate sampling and testing methods for coliscan monitoring which is the most cost effective and VA DEQ approved method to monitor for E. coli.

The purpose of this training is to recruit and train volunteers for the 2017 Water Quality Monitoring Program in Danville. Those wishing to volunteer as year-long coliscan water quality monitors will be required to partner with another volunteer to collect a sample from their site once every month and take it back to the Averett lab for processing by our student intern.
