CWQM Training for M/HC

Citizen Water Quality Monitoring Training for residents of Martinsville/Henry County. Free training for anyone interested in becoming a citizen water quality monitor! The training will be held in Room 2 in the Henry County Administration Building at 3300 Kings Mountain Road Collinsville, VA.

Registration is required. Please contact Krista Hodges at khodges@danriver.org to RSVP. Deadline to register is March 20th. Space is limited to 20 people. If spaces fill quickly, another training will be held at a later date.

The training, funded by the Harvest Foundation, will focus on monitoring for the presence of E. coli in streams and tributaries of the Dan and Smith Rivers in Martinsville-Henry County, VA. Volunteers will learn the appropriate sampling and testing methods for coliscan monitoring which is the most cost effective and VA DEQ approved method to monitor for E. coli.

The purpose of this training is to recruit and train volunteers for the 2017 Water Quality Monitoring Program in Martinsville-Henry County, VA. Those wishing to volunteer as year-long coliscan water quality monitors will be required to partner with another volunteer to collect, process and plate a sample from their site once every month in order to measure for the presence of E. Coli.
