Madison River Park Ribbon Cutting

You are invited to the ribbon cutting of the Madison River Park, an innovative recreational area that combined the need for dam restoration and the need to preserve an endangered fish species.

Project officials and local leaders will celebrate the opening of the park, a multi-year project, on May 21 with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., according to a news release from the City of Madison.
Located at Lindsey Bridge Road, near Pine Hall Brick in Madison, NC, the park re-opens to the public after a months-long restoration effort that involved construction of a natural boulder-weir system to restore the Dan River. The project opens a portion of the river previously closed to the public.

Economic development officials estimate the recreational park could see about 250,000 visitors annually and create more than $30 million in estimated annual tourism income once completed.
An attractive destination for tourists, the park will provide options for paddling, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, tubing and more.
