Every River Needs A Champion and You Can Help!

Dan River Basin Association and Trout Unlimited's Smith River Chapter are partnering to complete surveys of road-stream crossing on several tributaries to the Smith River identified as native trout waters. Our surveys will help property managers prioritize replacement and removal of barriers to trout movement in these waters.

Join us for a fun weekend of stream surveying and camping. The event is free and open to the public. Bring a friend and meet us at Fairy Stone State Park Campground where we will coordinate survey crews and be camping overnight on Friday and Saturday. You're welcome to stay for the entire weekend or join us for a day.

Event location: We will camp at tent campsites (#5 and #6) in Fairy Stone State Park.  These sites are reserved for us but you will need to bring your own tent and camping equipment.

What to bring: Final instructions will be sent to registered volunteers. For stream surveying, please be sure to bring muck boots or waders, sunscreen and bug spray.  All surveying equipment (stadia rods, laser distance meters, survey tapes, and safety vests) will be provided.
