Banister Flotsam Flotilla

Join the volunteer clean up - Flotsam Flotilla on the Banister River! First 25 registrants will receive a free T shirt! All participants will experience the satisfaction of cleaning up this State Scenic River listed as one of Virginia’s Treasures.

Don't have a boat? Don't let that stop you, free canoes will be provided by Staunton River State Park for a limited number, so register now!

What to wear:Dress in synthetic fabric, be prepared to get wet. Although the trip is not technically demanding or hazardous, all boaters will be asked to sign a waiver with the Town of Halifax. Recommended minimum age is 12 years old accompanied by a parent or legally responsible adult. Please note that everyone must register who is participating in the cleanup. Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

What to bring:Bring lunch and a dry bag for anything you wish to keep dry on the river. Be sure to bring plenty of water. A change of clothes might be nice for when you get off the river.
