April FSO - Lake Reidsville Hike, NC

Hike with us on the new trail at Lake Reidsville!

Join us for a 5-mile hike, out and back, on the Lake Reidsville Trail in the City of Reidsville, NC. This is DRBA's first FSO on the trail.

In 2021, DRBA expanded the Lake Reidsville trail by over 2 miles through a grant received by the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Recreational Trails Program.  The new trail segment meanders through fields, forest and along the lake shoreline.  The hike is for most abilities and ages.

Lake Reidsville offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation including trails, kayaking, fishing, skiing, boating, disc golf, and paddleboats.  With over 750 acres and a pristine lake, the Park also provides facilities for events, basketball courts, a playground, soccer fields and several picnic shelters to hold both small and large crowds.

Participants will meet at the Lake Reidsville parking lot just past the park store at end of the drive at 630 Water Works Road, Reidsville, NC (GPS 36.293618, -79.682295).

Those attending are asked to supply lunch and water, to wear hiking boots and layers of artificial (quick-drying) fabric or wool, to be ready for rain or wind, and to sign a waiver. Hiking poles are advisable because of the rolling terrain.  DRBA strongly encourages you to be vaccinated and to maintain a safe distance from others when in a group setting, even outdoors.

NOTE: Since guidelines may vary, visit www.danriver.org by Friday, April 1, 2022 to determine whether the outing will be held. 

DIRECTIONS: From Business 29 in Reidsville, NC, turn onto Water Works Road, turn left onto the Reidsville Lake Park Road at 630 Water Works Road, parking is on the right just past the Park Store. 

Free and open to the public.
